Melba Moore is a Grammy-nominated, Tony Award-winning recording artist, actress and Broadway star whose career has spanned soul, disco, R&B, gospel and musical theatre. She first rose to major attention on Broadway, winning a Tony Award in 1970 for her role as Lutiebelle in Purlie, before building a successful recording career with a powerful voice and a string of classic dancefloor and R&B favourites.

Her best-known hits include “This Is It,” “You Stepped into My Life,” “Love’s Comin’ At Ya,” “Livin’ for Your Love,” “Read My Lips,” “A Little Bit More” with Freddie Jackson, “Falling,” “It’s Been So Long” and “Lean on Me.” “Love’s Comin’ At Ya” became one of her signature tracks, reaching the Top 5 on the US R&B chart and also becoming a UK hit.

With her soaring vocals, stage presence and long-lasting influence across soul, disco and R&B, Melba Moore remains one of the great voices of classic Black music and a beloved performer on both stage and record.

Fans will be able to see her perform live at the Portugal Soul Weekender in May 2027.
